Noida, June 28, 2008: Impetus Technologies (www.impetus.com), the pioneer in outsourced product development and engineering services, hosted the first Community Event by Agile NCR. Aiming to equip the participants with enough knowledge to get them started on their Agile journey, Agile NCR User group organized this workshop themed "Introduction to Agile" at Impetus, today at its Noida campus.

With an interactive format, the Workshop was a knowledge forum which highlighted the issues in software development and was a platform to gain an introduction to Agile Software development. This was a hands-on Introduction to Agile workshop that can benefit an Agile newbie as much as an Agile practitioner. The workshop gave a background of Agile practices and exposure to SCRUM + XP - the two leading Agile methods being practiced worldwide.

Speaking on this occasion, Ms. Rachana Salgia, VP - Engineering, Research & Development, Impetus Technologies said that "We are very happy to host the first ever Community Event by the Agile NCR. This kind of workshop is a great opportunity for all the participants to stay aware, informed, and ahead of new developments in the Agile space."

The event saw the presence of around 100 technology enthusiasts with their insatiable desire of learning and sharing their knowledge.  It witnessed some really good talks on topics like Waterfall to Agile, the Roots of evolution & What is Agile, Open Space — Agile for Newbie, Method Overview on Scrum and  XP  along with very interesting games.

Agile Methods are an evolution from older ways of developing software and acknowledge the need for an alternative to documentation driven, heavyweight software development processes. Industry and technology move too fast, requirements change at rates that swamp traditional methods and customers have become increasingly unable to definitively state their needs up front while, at the same time, expecting more from their software. As a result, several consultants, Practitioners, Researchers, Educators have developed methods and practices to respond to the inevitable change they were experiencing and have come together to create Agile NCR Community. This first ever Community Event by Agile NCR has been organized under the aegis of Agile Software Community of India.
